Rafting Rafting tour: Reventazón River "Casa Máquinas"
Section (Class II - III)


The tour starts between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. with guides and comfortable microbuses that pick up the adventurers in the main hotels of the metropolitan area.

Taking the route to the Cartago colonial city we can observe the "Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles"; then we arrive to a Paraíso restaurant and enjoy a superb typical breakfast.

Later, in "Casa Máquinas" Section of Reventazón River (Class II - III) guides have already prepared the kit to start this wonderful adventure.

This section is located in Tucurrique, Congo town and the journey ends in Turrialba, La Florencia. Both towns belong to the province of Cartago.


This 2 hours and 12 miles journey tour is ideal for beginners with a minimum age of 10 years old.

Each participant receives a life jacket, a helmet and a paddle. One of the guides offers a safety speech and a small practice before facing the whitewater rafting experience.

Once the river journey is finished we take a shower and enjoy a delicious typical lunch in the facilities prepared for our participants.

We return to San José and leave our customers in their corresponding hotels, approximately at 5:00 p.m.

Coffee tour Rafting tour: Pacuare River (Class III - IV)


The tour starts between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. when microbuses pick up the adventurers in the main hotels of the metropolitan area.

A Costa Rican breakfast is offered at around 8:00 a.m. in a Paraíso, Cartago town restaurant with a spectacular view of the Orosi Valley.

Then we arrive to Tres Equis, Turrialba, a town where our guides wait for us with the equipment to start this wonderful adventure.

Each participant will receive a life jacket, a helmet and a paddle. One of the guides will give a safety speech and a small practice before facing whitewater rafting like Huacas, Cimarrones and Dos Montañas.

Pacuare is considered the most beautiful river in Costa Rica, and worldwide one of the best whitewater rafting rivers due to the scenic beauty, waterfalls, hiking trails and diversity of flora and fauna, among which participants will observe blue morpho butterflies, sloths, tucans, red frogs and great variety of birds. Thus, nature is present throughout the route.

This is a 3.5 hours journey with approximately 18 miles length. The minimum age for participants is 12 years old.

Once the river journey is finished, customers are moved to a restaurant in Siquirres, Limón for a shower and a typical lunch.

We return to San José and leave rafters in their hotels between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.

Coffee tour Adventure tour: you choose 2 out of 4 options.


A whole day of adventures were you choose two out of four possible adventures: White water rafting, canopy tour, horse back riding or rappel tour in the 5 star adventure destination of a Costa Rica, including a typical breakfast, a delicious lunch and fruit snack break.

The trip:

Pick up from the main hotels, at 7:00 a.m., a 2 hour bus ride, a typical Costa Rican breakfast at 7500 ft. high between the Poás and Barva volcanoes, followed by a 20 miles descent to the Sarapiquí valley with the most spectacular view of the Sarapiquí river canyon and waterfalls.

Your Activities:

A choice of 2 out of four adventures: A 2 hour horse ride on the hacienda trails, white water rafting class II and III on the scenic Sarapiquí, the exiting and confidence builder rappel tour on the wall of Sarapiquí canyon and free falls from tree platforms, or our double cable tree canopy tour ending with the 1000 ft. cable across the river.

Between the adventures you will enjoy lunch from chef Millo's cuisine at our river side restaurant and walk through the butterfly farm and garden

What to bring:

Rubber sole sandals or tennis and bathing suit for those doing rafting tour, sun blocking cream, and a second cloth's change. We provide showers and towels.

Optionally a light jacket or sweater for breakfast stops high up in the mountain.

Coffee tour Jungle Crocodile Safari, horse back ride or waking in Carara Park.


Transportation:
Pick up time is 7:00 o’clock in the morning anywhere in San José.

Jungle Crocodile Safari’s tour time is two hours. Boats have been specially designed to cruise the river safely. Bilingual tourist guide offers expert orientation about the crocodiles and other associated wildlife, including the very rare scarlet macaw and a great variety of resident and migrant waterfowl. Iguanas and Jesus Christ lizards can also be seen. On the way downstream, the boat heads along the Estero Guacalillo, a most awesome mangrove ecosystem that features four different species of mangrove trees. In addition to sightseeing, photography and videotaping are permited. On the way back to San José a snack is offered and estimated arrival time is six o’clock in the evening.

You can choose between Carara National Park or horseback tour.


Carara National Park:

The guided hike along paths within the park takes about two hours and offers visitors a chance to see white-faced monkeys, wild bores and bird life.

Traditional lunch:
Lunch is served in a thatched hut along the bank of the Tárcoles River.

The Menu includes:

  • A seafood soup as an appetizer
  • Main dish with beef, chicken or fish
  • Beer or soft drink
  • Dessert or fruits

Rest rooms, drinking water, flower gardens and a handicraft store are available to guests.

The tour includes:

  • Transportation from San José to Tárcoles and back to San José, in air-conditioned buses.
  • Entrance fee to Carara National Park and a bilingual guide during your tour.

Coffee tour Chocolate tour, Indigenous Culture Museum, and
Sarapiquí boat tour.


This is a full day activity. It includes bilingual guide and transportation. You are picked-up by 6:00-6:45 a.m., in your hotels around San José. The Vara Blanca route allows seeing the beauty of the landscape, including the famous Catarata de la Paz.

Arrival time is estimated by 9:00 a.m. Once at Tirimbina, there is a small break to use restrooms and get water before starting the Chocolate Tour. This tour lasts for 2 hours. The main objective of this activity is to inform the visitors with the natural and cultural history of cacao, and its process until it becomes chocolate. During the walk, visitors learn about history and the uses of cocoa by native indigenous cultures and a small description of the rainforest, where cacao comes from.

Once at the plantation, we show the whole process of chocolate, beginning from the cacao plant, flowers and fruits, to the extraction of seeds, and the manufacture of chocolate bars. Visitors participate in the process and enjoy their own made chocolate bars. This part takes place in a shack located in the plantation itself.


Once the Chocolate Tour is finished, visitors continue on the Museum of Indigenous Cultures. This tour lasts for 1 hour. Here, visitors can learn about history, distribution, traditions and way of life of 8 indigenous Costa Rican groups. The Museum has maps, videos, and a collection of artifacts.

Lunch is served at 12:00 at Tirimbina´s pic-nic area. It is a buffet style with two varieties of meet (chicken or beef), with the Costa Rican side dishes (rice and beans) and salad bar.

Visitors continue on the transfer to the deck at Puerto Viejo village. At 1:15 they start a boat trip. It is a roofed boat with microphone and life jackets. The trip focuses on flora and fauna spotting. It lasts for 1.5 hours. This service is operated by Hotel El Bambú, where participants will have snacks after the boat trip. In addition, they will have a chance to use the magnificent swimming pool at the hotel.

By 3:45 we are ready to go back to San José. This time we go by Braulio Carrillo National Park. Estimated arrival time is 5:30 pm.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens Combo: Poás Volcano & La Paz Waterfall Gardens.


This tour is a must for those who wish to experience the rich diversity of Costa Rica.
